10.5 Acres On Douglas Mountain Drive

This view looks east down Douglas Mountain Drive with our property line on the left along the road. A view of a small section of our lot while standing on the road. We're looking north here. Another view to the north. The elevation here is 8,200'. That's about the upper limit for rattlesnakes, but I saw a 3½' specimen on the road at the end of April. Looking northwest. The property is fenced with barbed wire, although the fence wanders back and forth across the property line. Our neighbor was repairing his barbed wire fence to keep the cows in after some elk knocked it down. Looking southwest across the road. I talked to the neighbors that live on this farm. They seem pretty nice ... they've lived in the valley for 35 years and the husband helped establish the volunteer fire department that is about ½ mile away. Another view from our property to the south. On the hill just behind the farm house, there is a windsock. A retired United Airlines captain built a house, a hangar and a short runway on the hill some years ago. Apparently he shows up every Monday in his Piper Cub for some touch and goes. I'm at the northwest corner looking south across the road here. Looking to the southeast from just off the road. From the north property line looking to the southeast. We're about halfway up the lot looking to the south. While Kris and I were walking the boundaries of our property the other day, we discovered we have our own little bonsai! This is from Google Earth. The blue outline is our lot. [End of series. Return to the New House page.]
