Interior Finishes

This section shows interior finishes.

Prior to installing drywall, all the timbers adjacent to drywall have to be protected. Here you can see plastic, paper and blue tape on some of the timbers in the living room. All the oak beams against the far wall are covered in paper. The ridge beam is 22 feet above the floor. We purchased our own scaffolding to access the vaulted ceiling in the living room. Here, the scaffolding is set up with two six foot frames and a guard rail in red: with the 8" casters, this puts the top platform about 13 feet up in the air. I add a final four foot frame to get to the ridge beams. Here are some beams in the loft. This is the east wall of the loft near the 3/4 bath. The braces are wrapped up like Christmas presents. These are beams inside the 3/4 bath in the loft. We've insulated the walls for sound proofing. Kris and I both taped beams one weekend and I spent six more days days taping up all the beams. After many 12-hour days, I decided to spend Halloween night in the loft instead of taking the 90 minute drive home. Here is the sunrise visible from our loft the next morning. [End of series.]
