Fall Colors In Boreas Pass, Colorado

Boreas Pass Road starts in Breckenridge, Colorado and continues 15 miles across the pass to Como, Colorado. The road is single-track in a few places, owing to the fact that it was originally a foot path, a wagon road and then the railroad bed for the Denver, South Park and Pacific Railroad beginning in 1882. This view looks back towards the mountains just south of Breckenridge. Another view just south of Breckenridge. Fall colors, including some red. The yellow is aspen of course. This is near the top of the pass looking north. The summit is over 11,000' MSL. Another view to the north. We're on the south side of the pass descending into Como now. Some of the yellow leaves have started falling from the aspen branches. This is Robert's Cabin near the south end of the pass. It dates from the 1880's and is available for rental from the Forest Service. We're on flat terrain now coming into Como and looking east towards the aspen in Kenosha Pass. One last view east as we come into Como. [End of series. Return to the Photos page.]
